Well here we are now the Europeans has come and gone and is all but a memory. i am undergoing treatment for the injury and it does seem to be getting better. It is still sore and now with some MAN flu to go with it i am a bit under the weather. I have had time to think about the last training cycle and how things have panned out. There are part of my original program i have adjusted or missed out and i think again it is time to change a few things around. My squats felt Slow and that was down to doing them once a week and again the deadlift had been going well but the injury forced me out and unable to do them. so what is next well there is the British seniors in a few weeks and i am unsure at this moment if that will be for me or whether to leave it till later in the year and maybe just focus on something before the Worlds…

Here is the run down from last week’s Europeans. Well after a long journey to the Ukraine and a very long days travelling I arrived at my hotel some 18 hours later.

There was not time on the Wednesday for hanging around it was more or less up and get down there. The trip and heat out there made it easy to Make weight in fact I was well under weight. 73.2Kgs. Having a bad last squat session I was very apprehensive how there were going to go. The warm ups went well still not as fully confident as I would normally would be. The first attempt went well and a good second with the World and European weight of 307.5kgs I felt great. Disaster struck on my last attempt and some cracking on my upper back and pain was too much for me to try the 312.5kgs. Still in pain and benching I managed two good attempts ending on 205kgs. Missing a 207.5kgs for the bronze medal. By now the pain was bad and it was all I could do to pull a 125kg deadlift so I could claim the record squat. Drug tested and then away to reflect upon the days lifting and the injury. After days in the Ukraine it was time to make my way home. In a few short days I had a bus four plane trips a taxi and a world record. Long way to go but I am pleased. It Is a shame that the only way the IPF allow World or Europeans records at international events. National events would be good and give me the chance to break this record and maybe a few others. I would like to thanks the people who helped me with the trip. NRG Fuel for my supplement. Titan Support for the best powerlifting apparel around.

Well that is the training all wound up for the Europeans in the Ukraine next week, All I can say it has been a funny sort of week and the breakdown is

Squat comp suit and wraps did a good 280Kgs then had issues with 300Kgs I was unable to set it up and had to rerack it, I did try it again and it was not to be. I did try to do the lift again and we changed the weights around so there were less rubber weights on it and although I set it up better I was wiped out and missed it.

Bench, this went well I finished up with a double on 205Kgs, they felt good and I was well pleased with that result.

Deadlift I had worked up to 250Kgs and on the first go I missed it my grip went at the top. However I cleaned the bar and did another 2 singles on it. Apart from the squat I have finished the Training cycle on a few Pb’s and I hope that the squat will be ok on the day.

I would like to Thank a few People for their help along the way. Paul from the gym where I train. Pedro for the camera work and the help in the gym. Scott and the boys for the help on the squats. Bob Doyle for the massage throughout the cycle. Nrg fuel, for the best supplements around. Titan Support Systems for the best Powerlifting Kit in the world.

Here is the Video from the week and let’s hope the training pays off next week

Hi guys, here is the breakdown of this week’s Training has gone. Monday was heavy Bench and the top working sets were 195kgs for a few sets of 2, this time I was using a comp size shirt and all paused. Wednesday was deadlifts and it was the first time with a suit on, finding it a bit different from the previous raw training I did 235kgs for a few doubles. These I would have liked to been a bit easier and a lot fast. Friday was squats and these were done in a lose suit with wraps, the working weights were 287.5kgs, again these were for doubles.

On the whole I am pleased with this week’s sessions there are a few bits that I felt could have been better but I think things in general are going the right way, for myself I am now having to train out of the comfort zone and stat to hit a few P.B’s in training. I have 1 more weeks training left till the Europeans and I think it is all down to the day then. What with being in the lowest ranking on paper for some time. The class is so close and a few Kg’s could make a world of difference I would like to think that I will jump up on the day and lift to my ability. I am not going to say about predictions or anything like that as I feel that it is all down to the day and strange things happen. Next week I am going to try my best to get the top sets filmed and posted up at the end of the week with my weekly write up.

If any of you have any comments them please feel free to respond to any of the posts that I have done

Last weekend i attended a National Squad session for the forthcoming Europeans, My plan was to do some heavy squats there. After a few warm ups i started on my heavy sets, i did 265kgs for 3 sets of 2 in knee wraps and half a suit. The squad seemed to be going well and most of the guys and girls seem well on form for the Europeans. We do have some video footage of the session and i will get the link out as soon as it has been edited. With only a few weeks left til the Euros i am going to get some of the heavy work filmed from now on in and will upload it to my you tube account. It is now back into the gym and back to normal from here and the weights are going to start to jump up after all we have only a few weeks of hard training left till the Comp.

Here is the video from the Squad session

Tickets booked hotels and transfers sorted. The new training plan is going to plan and tomorrow I am going to be at the National Squad Training in Birmingham. It is mainly going to be a squat session with speed work on the other lifts I am still quite low with the weights but they will be jumping up in the next few weeks. This week’s lifts were Bench 180Kgs for 3 sets of 2 and with the Deadlifts it is 217.5kgs, for the same reps. I am looking forward to the squad session and seeing the guys and girls. I am going to get a few videos from my lifting and should have them sorted this weekend I am also going to start to wear some form of kit not the comp stuff more just training kit for the last few weeks of the build up.

Here is a bit of an update from the weekends Fund Raiser in the Pub. Wow what a great day we had 14 guys lifting in the end and I think most of them enjoyed themselves. The raffle went well and what with the bits donated form that and the Rugby shirts to auction off we managed to raise the funds needed to help towards the cost of me going to the Europeans in May. Thanks to strength shop and maxiraw for their donations. Thanks you to all the guys who turned up and helped out also a big Thank you to Kurt who was my main raffle ticket man you did a great job. Also a Big Thank You to Paul and Chris from the Globe Inn.

So next stop now is the Europeans in May and the rest of the build up for the comp is going to be hard but hopefully worth it. Things have gone well so far and hopefully they will continue. I am going to get some clips over the next few weeks also so we get to see just how things are looking. So tonight is Squats and I think it is time to use wraps and half a suit. I am not too sure the weights as of yet but they are all set out ready.
