Here is a bit of an update for you guys, now that there are cops on the horizon it is time to start to vamp up the training in preparation for the forthcoming Europeans Championships in May. I have decided to change a few aspects of my build up and I am looking forward to the change and to see if it makes a difference. I tend to do a lot of volume on the main lifts and I am going to drop a bit off and up the main weights used. Other than that there has not been a great deal going on. The other new is my sponsor Titan Support Systems have redesigned their Super Katana bench shirt and that should be interesting to see what the difference is when you wear it. I have seen a video about it on the internet and it looks good. Hopefully they will have it in full production soon and if I am lucky enough to get one I will let you know how it works for me in the build up towards the Europeans. Now that my little one is in school during the mornings it is going to free up time for some session to be done in the morning with the guys in the gym. Again with some different people around It has to help me and make a difference with the build up.

Here we are at the end of another weeks training, it has been a good week and despite the cold weather it was good in the gym, I have been going down in the days where possible. It is funny the morning in the gym are more like a mother meeting all the boys down there and the banter going on. There is nothing much to report on the weight front, they are starting to go up a bit and I am sort of on plan for what I wanted for this month. The main build up will start soon ready for the Europeans in may, then fingers crossed for a good training cycle and no injuries in the build up. For any of you who are into your supplements then there is a new product on the market NRG have finally brought out a BCCA Glutamine powder. I have used it and it is a great extra supplement to have. Check out the link

http://www.nrgfuel.org/products-page/boxing-mma/100-pure-bcaa-glutamine

It is another great product from them and in all honesty they are really moving forward in the supplement market. As you will know I am sponsored by them and they are constantly developing their supplement range and out there for the customer.

Hi Guys here we are now at the start of February and we are fast approaching the start of the comps are the year ahead. For myself I had an invite to compete at the Arnold sports festival in March this prestigious event is held every year in Columbus Ohio. I am currently unable to make this now due to some family issues and not having the best of preparation to train for the event. It is a shame but I would like to think that maybe next year I would be asked again and with a bit more time to prepare for it I could make this dream reality. So for the future I would like to think that the Europeans in May would be the next big one and that I am able to focus on breaking a few of the World records. For me the IPF/EPF hold the highest level of competitions and this is why I want to lift with them and compete again the best in the World. Training is going good now that things have calmed down and I have got t few new ideas that I would like to impend into this training cycle, apart from the bands and chains I am now having a go with some fat grips well all I can say is wow that are a great asset and will hopefully help these small hands of mine get a bit stronger for the big pulls I have planned this year. We all know that I am not the biggest deadlifter around and that if I can help it in anyway then it is a big bonus for me and that has to be beneficial for the overall total. For some of you guys there will be the British bench press up first on the calendar this year I have decided I will not be doing it and focus more on the full Powerlifting later on this year. So for those of you who are going to compete there may I wish you all the best and I will be looking at the results to see just how well you guys did at the comp. If anyone would like to know more about the comp then the info is posted on the GBPF site.

Here is a bit of an update from the weekend’s session, one of my good mate Geraint came down to train with myself and Pete. The main objective was to get him into his new bench shirt and start to work his bench. A late Sunday bench session seems to be the norm now and they are good. The gym tends to be cold and with a few of the guys in there working out it soon warms up and the banter starts. I think the session went well I have started to get back to basics with my training and used a Titan Ram for the night it felt good hit a 170 bench in it and then dropped back for some reps, Pete used some bands and Geraint stated to hit some bigger weight on to the block.

I am currently using the NRG TTP before training and then their 100%Whey after. The TTP is a great pre workout supplement and it has lots in it for those hard training sessions. I am going to give it some time before I get any form of kit on and start to get into shape and a bit fitter for the main build up. I am working up to % sets of % on the main lifts and then for assistance I am going to do lots of higher reps on them also. I would like to fit in some cardio session and try to start to get the body fat down a bit, the Cross trainer seems to work well for me but it is hard to start with after so much time off.

Here is my weekly update on how thing are going. It is great to be back in the Gym and starting to focus on the Event that is later in the year. The Europeans is going to be in Maripol In the Ukraine in may. That should be a good Trip and I am sure that Team GB will do well there. Myself I am hoping to get there I have started to look towards the sponsorship for the trip and feel like it will be a great one to take part on. For any of you who are interested I have now started to use some more of the NRG range of supplements and I am currently going to use the TTP product. They also have a TTP anabolic and for me I don’t want the extra carbs at this point that there is in the Anabolic version. If any of you guys are interested in any of the NRG products then please feel free to ask about them or if you are down my way and you want any I have them at good prices.

Anyway back to the gym, started some light foundation work to get me prepared for the main build up in a few weeks. I am going to stick to what I have been doing for the main lifts and change the assistance around and maybe incorporate some band and chain work. My training partner was on about bands on leg press so we had a go at them and they were good. Well done Pete on making some input lol

So what is next for you guys there are a few Comps going to be around soon and what do you have planned for yourselves.

Here we are now back into the gym and back to some hard Training. It will soon be time to plan the years Events and see what comps are good for me. Now I have become a master lifter I have so much more to choose from. I think however the first choice is to do the British Masters in March and then see how it goes from there. So some light stuff for the first few weeks and then get myself onto some sort of program that will focus more on what I am going to do. In May the European open is in the Ukraine and that looks good. However the worlds are in Puerto Rico now that is miles away this year, mind you the World Masters is in the USA. Now I have competed all over this globe but never in the USA so that would be a good chance to get out there and see just how they do their events and catch up with some of my friends out there. Like before I will try to get the blog updated on a weekly basis and keep you guys updated on what is going on, feel free to add comments at any time, we now have that facility and it will be good to hear what you guys have to say.

Here we are the start of a new year and what a better than with a new web site. I would like to thank Rob for the site and his help in getting it up and running. Hopefully when I get the hang of the new site I can start to get some bits posted up for you guys to see what is going on with me.
The last year has ended and for myself it ended on a bit of a high. My last event was the Commonwealth Championships. Despite not being fully fit I set a World and European Squat record with 300kgs. Commonwealth Bench press and Total, 205 and 752.5kgs. The new body weight has helped and it is nice now to be training and competing at the same weight. I would also like to say a few Thank You’s to the guys who ave helped me throughout the year, The Gym boys Pete, Mat and Paul, Bobby for keeping my body together.
Then my Sponsor’s firstly NRG Supplements and also Titan Support Systems, Thank you Guys for all your help and Support.
