European masters champion 2013, sounds good don’t it and what makes it special to me is the fact that i am one of the few who has won the European title at Junior senior and now masters. Wow that makes me sort of old don’t it
Well the break down from the lifting is as follows weight in went well and expected the weight was not really an issue at all. the lifting did not go as i wanted but i suppose on hind sight the build up was not the best it had been and i can only now look back and think maybe i should have done a few things different. Having a problem with depth on my first squat i had to retake it again and this was a success. i then moved on to the bench and after a press of 210Kgs i opted to try 220Kgs for a European masters record, this went half way then jumped over my head. onto the deadlift and a low opener secured the win for me, a good second attempt left me wondering if i could have a shot at the gold deadlift medal, Having gold on both the squat and bench we decided to go for it however 265Kgs was not to be and i finished with a dissapointed 750Kgs total. My wilks was enough to win the overall best lifter award, So gold overall then gold bench and squat and a bronze on the deadlift. I hope the links below work they are of some of my lifting from the comp.
Can i say a BIG THANK YOU to my Sponsors NRG FUEL and TITAN SUPPORT SYSTEMS their help has been first class.
Here we are at the end of the build-up and it is now comp week. The last few sessions went well not to the targets I had set out at the start but sometimes things have to be changed and it is all down to the result on comp day. The last few sessions I went up to 290Kgs squat, Bench was 200Kgs and a 245Kg deadlift. I am yet to put my comp day kit on, that will now come on Friday when I compete.
Having had some very long weeks in work I am now off work till after the comp.
This week is all about rest and getting mentality ready for the event. It will soon be time to pack the kit bag ready for the short trip over to Luxembourg for any of you who want to check out the results or watch it there is a live feed at
Well so much for filming the sessions last week, in my defense it was hard enough getting in and having someone to spot and help out, however it all went ok and I am pleased with how the week ended. Squatted 280Kgs with no issues with the quad so that is well and truly sorted and I am over that small issue. Bench I was up to 200Kgs and 235Kgs for the deadlift. This week is going to be a busy one again with work and trying to fit in the sessions but there will be no assistance this week just the lifts and build up. Not being the best build up I have had but hey it is all down to comp day then and how things go even the best build ups can end in a bad days lifting. For me I think the main thing is to make sure of my attempts and maybe hold the rains back a bit. Saying that I do have a few targets I would like to get so may be easier to say than do.
This week as I said I will be cutting right back and just concentrating on the main lifts in comp style and hoping to nail the last few sessions that combined with a very long week in work should be fun. The bodyweight is good also and I am pleased with that and not having to drop a lot of weight in the last few days towards the comp
