About Me

My name is Phil Richard, I am a powerlifter from the UK and I compete locally, nationally and internationally in powerlifting competitions that are sanctioned by the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).

Born in 1971, I have spent all my life living in Swansea, South Wales.

I first started powerlifting in 1987 at the age of 16, lifting in the 52kg class as a junior lifter within the IPF. Within a year, I was representing Great Britain as an international lifter where I won 3 junior World titles, 5 European titles and set numerous records along the way, some of which still stand to this day.

I am currently the GBPF/IPF Welsh, British and Commonwealth powerlifting champion at 74kg. I am also a Former World and European Powerlifting champion and have won Three World titles and six European Titles to date.

The sport of powerlifitng has given me the opportunity to travel the globe and compete against the best lifters in the world where I have met a wide range of friends from a multitude of backgrounds and cultures.

I have trained in many of the gyms in and around Swansea but currently train at “The Gym” in Landore, Swansea. The gym itself is pretty basic but has all the equipment needed to train as a powerlifter. It also has a fantastic atmosphere that really helps with my training.

My training is relatively simple and has constantly changed over the years. I think that no matter how long a lifter has trained, he/she can still learn from others.

I am available for guest appearances and other promotional appointments so please contact me if you would like to discuss any opportunities.
